Silvia Marina was captured about the year 290 b.C. by the powerful Hatria Picena that turned it into an outpost for the control on the coast to defend itself from the attacks coming from the Adriatic See. The “Comune di Silvi Marina” was founded in 1931, the name doesn’t reflect the city’s origin; infact, it was born as a village close to the hills that had to assure a permanent militar defence to Atri, city with an ultra-millenary history in that moment dominated by the Romans. In 1833 Silvi finally became indipendent. From that moment the sea area that, thanks to its beauties, attracted a lot of tourists and it’s still doing it. Silvi Marina fu conquistata intorno al 290 a.c. dalla potente Hatria Picena che ne fece un avamposto di controllo sulla costa per difendersi dagli attacchi provenienti dal Mare Adriatico. Il nome attribuitole solo 1931 (anno in cui nacque il Comune di Silvi Marina) tradisce le vere origini della cittadina; essa infatti, nasce come borgo appostato sulle vicine colline avente la funzione di presidio militare permanete al servizio di Atri, città con una storia ultramillenaria allora dominata dai Romani.
