Abruzzo is named “European Green Region”. It’s not a publicity stunt but an official recognition to a Region that has the most high percentage of green areas related to the built-up areas. Three National Parks, a Regional Park and 40 Nature Reserves make this region the only “green lung” in Europe. Also the territorial morphology is particular: going through Abruzzo from east to west you can see in few minutes heterogeneous wonderful landscapes: golden beaches, green hills, the magnificent Gran Sasso, the most imposing mountains of the Centre – South Italy. We suggest to visit the National Parks because they represent the landscape of the Region.
